Jarryd Hayne could take the field for the Titans this weekend

JARRYD Hayne is set to be rushed into the Gold Coast line up this weekend as the club pushes to register the biggest signing in their history for the rest of 2016.

The Gold Coast announced Hayne’s inking of a monster two-year-deal worth a reported $1.2 million including third party agreements on Wednesday morning, and are expecting get their new marquee man on the park in time for their crucial round 22 clash with the Warriors.

Hayne will be subject to a medical assessment from Titans staff, with coach Neil Henry to make a final call on whether he will be rushed into the final 17 for Sunday’s home game.

“There’s a few things we have to weigh up first,” Henry said.

“One medically, we’ll see where Jarryd’s at with his preparation.

“Once we get the all-clear there we’ll make a decision. But certainly he’s available and that’s the reason he’s here too

Hayne’s registration has been approved by the NRL with CEO Todd Greenberg giving head office’s blessing in the best interests of the game.

“Jarryd left Rugby League with our support to pursue a dream – and I have no doubt the fans will be eager to see him return,” Greenberg said.

“In the end it was Jarryd’s decision but we certainly wanted to see him in the NRL rather than another code.

“It was also up to Jarryd to determine which club he joined and his decision to join the Titans will undoubtedly drive interest in the NRL on the Gold Coast.”

The NRL are the current owners of the Gold Coast franchise having taken charge last year.

Having operated at well below the full cap throughout 2016, the Titans have not had to move on any of its current squad to accommodate the two-time Dally M winner for the rest of the year.

With five games left in the regular season, Hayne comes at a price tag of around $200,000 for the rest of the year.

As Hayne is currently an unregistered player, the June 30 deadline does not apply to any contract of his.

Already Hayne’s arrival at the Titans for their charge to an unlikely finals berth – which would be their first since 2010 – has seen their odds in the premiership market slashed.

In the first two hours since news of Hayne’s signing emerged the TAB has seen the Gold Coast backed in from $67 to $34 to claim this year’s title.

Those odds are expected to come in again to $16 with Hayne all but confirmed to take the field in the run home to the semis.
