Colin Kaepernick’s jersey is flying off the virtual shelves.

Sales of the San Francisco 49ers quarterback’s merchandise have been steadily rising, and on Tuesday his jersey became the NFL Shop’s top-selling item.

Kaepernick has been protesting police brutality and the oppression of people of color by not standing for the U.S. national anthem before games. He plans to continue the protest during the regular season.

On Monday, President Barack Obama praised him for having “generated more conversation around some topics that need to be talked about.”

Kaepernick’s actions have resulted in furious debate, and all eyes will be on the pivot when the 49ers open their season Monday at home against the Los Angeles Rams, even though he’ll be on the bench.
