Fremantle forward Hayden Ballantyne could miss the remainder of the season after suffering what appeared to be a fractured cheekbone in Friday night’s clash with Geelong.

The incident left Ballantyne with a massive black eye, however he soldiered on throughout the remainder of the contest.

It adds salt to the wound for the Dockers, who now have a 3-13 record after a narrow loss to the Cats in a scrappy affair at Subiaco.

Speaking after the match, Fremantle coach Ross Lyon confirmed the diagnosis for Ballantyne.

“Hayden seems to have fractured a cheekbone,” Lyon said.

“It was really courageous, as he is. And we’re at a point where we’d really like to look after him.

“I don’t know how long they (fractured cheekbones) are. You might be able to Google it before I can. I’ve got no idea to be honest, but I would suggest it’s a number of weeks.”
