Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi has been given an official reprimand for breaching the International Cricket Council’s Code of Conduct for the controversial run-out of Ireland’s Ed Joyce in a one-day international.

Joyce was run out in the sixth over of Ireland’s chase on Sunday, stopping mid-pitch believing a cover drive he had hit had crossed the ropes.

Nabi claimed otherwise, flicking the ball back to Rashid Khan, who threw to the non-striker’s end, where Yamin Ahmadzai whipped off the bails.

With no third-umpire officiating the match, the on field umpires had to take Nabi’s word.

After the game, Ireland’s media manager posted this damning evidence.

On Tuesday, Nabi was found to have violated Level 1 Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support which relates to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.”

An ICC statement said: “photographic evidence later confirmed that Nabi was in contact with the ball while outside the boundary when he had flicked the ball for Rashid Khan to help run-out Joyce.

“Nabi admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by ICC Match Referee David Jukes.”

Joyce scored an unbeaten 160 in the fifth and final ODI between the two sides on Tuesday, powering Ireland to a series-levelling victory.
