Virtus.pro have secured a berth in ESL Pro League Season 4 after defeating GODSENT 2-0 in Monday’s Wild Card match.

Despite winning ELEAGUE Season 1, Virtus.pro failed to qualify for Pro League Season 4 and did not receive an invite. However, when ESL opened up the EU and NA Wild Card matches to a fan vote, VP received 76 percent of the vote. GODSENT were a distant second at 14 percent.

However, GODSENT received a godsend just before the match began when they announced that they had traded Simon “twist” Eliasson and Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson to Fnatic in exchange for Jesper “JW” Wecksell, Robin “flusha” Ronnquist and Lars “KRIMZ” Freddy Johansson.

While GODSENT’s expectations were high following the trade, they swiftly fell behind VP in the first half of Cobble, falling down 6-1 by Round 8. However, GODSENT were able to rally for a six-round win streak to even things up 7-8 at the end of the first half.

Unfortunately for them, they could not keep up the momentum once the teams switched sides, winning only four rounds in the second half and losing Game 1 16-11.

Cache seemed to be a replay of Cobble as VP easily took the first three rounds before GODSENT finally hit their stride. They managed to take a 9-6 lead by the end of the first half, but it didn’t last long. VP won four rounds in the second half in a row to even things out 10-10. From there, the two teams traded round after round, but VP ultimately closed it out 16-12.

Jarosław “pasha” Jarząbkowski and Filip “NEO” Kubski of Virtus had the best K/D/A records of the match at 46/29/7 and 44/20/13, but GODSENT’s Fnatic imports flusha and KRIMZ had the best ADRs at 92.8 and 89.4. Krimz was also the only member of GODSENT to have a positive K/D ratio.

Virtus won’t get a chance to rest on their laurels before they face Ninjas in Pyjamas in the very first day of Season 4, on Aug. 17.
